About Mall Rivals

Mall Rivals corridor outside Store 14 with stacked delivery crates, planters, and upstairs walkways

Mall Rivals is Creedon Games' competitive mall tycoon on Steam: up to eight players open stores in one shared mall, haul boxes, hire staff, and fight over the same customers. 1.0 left Early Access on 27 August 2026 with new store types, a living economy, a six-branch perk tree, and a Mall Buyout race. Start with the first-store walkthrough, then pick a shop from the store tier list and learn how hiring works. Fair play is optional — the crime and police guide covers pickpockets, lockpicks, ShameTV, and jail time.

Quick start

New to the mall? Follow these steps before rivals undercut you.

  1. 1

    Buy a vacant unit

Walk a for-sale storefront, pick a type, and pay the lease from starting cash. Location beats décor on day one — read the first-store walkthrough before you skip the tutorial.

  2. 2

    Haul boxes, then price

Carry starter crates from the door onto sale shelves. Never dump stock in the corridor: mall security fines you and later builds block extra corridor boxes. Set shelf prices against market value using the pricing guide.

  3. 3

    Hire a cashier first

When queues form, go to the recruitment benches near the entrance. Assign a role immediately or the worker idles. Skill checks and wages are covered in how to hire employees. Restock from the tablet using wholesale orders; borrow only if the loans guide says the numbers work.

  4. 4

    Expand or go shady

A second unit or floor expansion multiplies income — see store expansion. If you would rather steal stock and pick pockets, read crime and police so ShameTV does not end your run.

  5. 5

    Spend into a perk branch

1.0 money feeds a six-branch perk tree: Commerce, Crime, Combat, Mobility, Social, and Labor. Lock a plan on the perk build page before you spray points.
