Mall Rivals 1.0 is live
Early Access ended 27 August 2026. This is what actually shipped besides the launch discount.
Creedon Games took Mall Rivals out of Early Access on 27 August 2026. Steam sold 1.0 with a 30% launch discount. The studio’s own line: the doors are open, this is the full release, and it is the biggest update the game has ever seen. This page is the feature list translated into wiki language so you can fix your guides muscle memory.
If you last played the demo, you are missing most of a game. If you last played Comeback in June, you are missing the win condition and the police state.
Four new store types
Pharmacy, Home Goods, Hardware, and Liquor Store joined the mall. Each has a license ladder, a product range, and its own shelving. Home Goods had been a coming-soon sofa on the first trailer grid; it is real now. Rank them on the tier list and read the catalog on store types. Diversity matters: the old tier panel already pulsed when you had cash but not enough types.
Crime and police
You can empty customers’ pockets, pick storage locks, and fence on the black market. The mall now has a police force that patrols, chases, and jails repeat offenders. Demo mall cops were a warning label. 1.0 cops are a down-time machine. The crime and police guide is required reading even if you never steal, because thief customers and corridor fines still exist.
Living economy and demand
Pricing is no longer set-and-forget. Every product has demand that shifts day to day. Store statistics tell you what is actually pulling people in. That sentence retires a lot of Early Access advice. Recheck tags every morning. Use the pricing guide and the price helper. Attractiveness, cleanliness, and variety were already economic stats as of the Overhaul; 1.0 adds a daily graph on top.
Employees: personality, training, managers
Workers have traits. Training earns skills. Managers keep a shop alive when you are not on the till. That is the automation the physical sim needed. The employees page covers benches, fees, and the 1 / 2 / 3 / F talk menu that still applies.
A living mall
Informants trade intel for gifts. NPCs remember you. Thief customers blend in. Bodyguards punch. Combined with Comeback’s events and exterior, the building is no longer a flat box of stores. It is a place that can waste your time if you ignore it.
Health, stamina, combat
A new HP, stamina, and combat system. Bats were already in from April. 1.0 makes swinging a build, not a prop. Combat is a perk branch for a reason.
Perk tree — six branches
Commerce, Crime, Combat, Mobility, Social, Labor. Dozens of permanent perks. Money you earn feeds the character. Pick a job; do not sprinkle. Full sketches on the perk builds page.
Win conditions, including Mall Buyout
1.0 sells “more ways to play” with real finish lines. The Mall Buyout race is the headline. Hosts could already set cash targets and short matches; now there is a named late-game besides “play until you are bored.” See game modes and the Mall Buyout guide.
What 1.0 does not erase
Physical boxes. Corridor fines. ShameTV. Board votes (reworked earlier). Workshop mods. Casino slots and the barber from Comeback. You still grab with left mouse. You still assign employee roles or they idle. The controls page still matters.
Launch practicalities
- Platform: Steam Windows. Unity. About 4 GB listed storage, ~1.35 GiB depot in one snapshot.
- Price: $14.99 list, 30% off at launch (offer windows end — check Steam).
- Specs on the store: 64-bit Windows 10, 8 GB RAM, and a fairly modern GPU (RTX 3060 / RX 6600 XT class on the current page). Older demo pages listed weaker CPUs; believe the live store if they disagree.
- Steam Deck: playable, with default-controller gaps.
- Languages: 15, including English, French, German, Spanish. This wiki covers those four and skips the rest on purpose.
Release candidate week (22 August hotfix, 21 August RC) was the dress rehearsal. The hotfix made wholesaler piles stack on the floor, rebuilt the wholesaler cart UI, and blocked placing a box inside another box — details on wholesale orders. If a bug you reported then still exists, take it to Discord via the links hub, not to a year-old YouTube comment.
Play 1.0 as a new game if your last save predates perks. The discount is for the software. The mall still wants your boxes on the correct side of the door.
