Mall Rivals Workshop and texture mods

Wallpaper and store dressing. Attractiveness is real. A cashier is still a cashier.

Workshop Mods

Steam Workshop is on for Mall Rivals. Creedon’s pinned quickstart is short on purpose: this is not a scripting API and not a seventh perk branch. You dress the mall. You do not rewrite 1.0 police. Official destinations stay on the links hub. This page is the how-to so you stop asking Discord “where is the mods folder.”

Official loop

In-game: MODDING → OPEN MODS FOLDER. Add a ModInfo.json. Drop textures under Textures/. Keep IDs stable after you upload or subscribers lose the mapping. Formats: PNG or JPEG. Max 2048×2048. 1024 is the recommended working size. That is wallpaper, signage, and store dressing.

Workshop items already in the wild include decoration packs, flags, and meme textures. They are optional. They will not add Pharmacy if your depot is old. They will not add a Mall Buyout button.

Why attractiveness still cares

The Store Overhaul tied sales to attractiveness, cleanliness, and variety. A naked shop looks closed. A texture pack can raise the “this is a real store” score. It cannot scan a customer. Hire from employees before you spend an evening on a 2048px logo.

Furniture still comes from the tablet, not from Workshop. Racks, mannequins, the store monitor TV — order those as furniture. Mods replace how they look, not whether they exist.

What Workshop will not do

  • No codes. This is Steam, not Roblox.
  • No combat stat packs. HP, stamina, and bats are 1.0 systems, not PNG files.
  • No extra store types. Pharmacy and Liquor shipped in version 1.0, not in a community folder.
  • No skip for wholesale hauls. Pretty crates in the corridor are still a fine.

If a thumbnail promises “OP Workshop script,” you are in the wrong wiki. We do not host executables. We do not list injectors.

Practical install

  1. Subscribe on the Steam Workshop page for app 4090330.
  2. Boot the game, let Steam download.
  3. Confirm the pack in MODDING.
  4. Walk your shop. If IDs shifted after an update, the pack author has to republish stable IDs — that is why the official note says keep them stable.

Hosts should agree on packs in co-op so one player is not staring at default textures while another is in a meme mall. Game modes do not require mods. A buyout race does not score wallpaper.

Where to get help

Broken uploads, ID clashes, and “my floor is pink” belong on Steam discussions or Discord, listed on the links hub. This wiki will not patch your ModInfo.json for you. When Creedon changes the folder layout, we change this page. Until then, 1024px, stable IDs, and a cashier.

What a pack is for

After Overhaul, attractiveness is a sales stat. A decoration pack that makes Fashion look like a store can move the needle the same way a mannequin does. A flags pack is lobby identity. A meme pack is a joke you all agreed to. Community items already in the wild include decoration sets, flag textures, and meme sheets — subscribe on Steam, do not download random executables from a Discord DM.

Hosts should pick one pack list before day one. Mixed textures in co-op are how one player thinks the shop is decorated and another thinks it is default. Game modes do not score wallpaper. A Mall Buyout does not either.

Folder discipline

Keep ModInfo.json next to Textures/. Do not rename IDs after upload. Do not ship 8K files; 2048 is the cap, 1024 is the note. JPEG is fine for photos, PNG for signs with hard edges. If a pack breaks after a patch, the author republishes; you resubscribe. This wiki will not host a mirror.

If the mall looks pink, you have a missing texture or a bad ID, not a new store type. Check MODDING before you buy another loan to “fix” a visual.

Attractiveness is not a till

A pretty empty shop still looks closed. Restock with wholesale, tag with the price helper, hire a cashier. Then worry about the 1024px logo over the door. Workshop is the last 5% of a run that already works, not the first.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers players actually search for in Mall Rivals.

How do I install Mall Rivals Workshop mods?

Subscribe on Steam, then in-game use MODDING → OPEN MODS FOLDER. Textures go under Textures/ with a ModInfo.json. 1024px recommended, 2048 max.

Do Workshop mods add new store types or perks?

No. They are dressing. Licenses come from patches — see store types and perks.

Will a texture pack make more customers buy?

It can help attractiveness after Overhaul. Empty shelves still look closed. Restock and price first.

Are there Mall Rivals scripts?

Not on this wiki. Ignore injectors. This is a Steam sim.
